Headteacher's April Update
I am delighted to be writing my first letter to parents as the Acting Headteacher and I feel extremely privileged to be leading your school during this Summer term.
I would like to say a huge thank you to Mr Wetson for the fantastic job he carried out as Headteacher over the last four years at Dyson Perrins. He led rapid and sustained school improvement, ensuring that the students at Dyson Perrins made better progress than similar students both locally and nationally. He also led a period of school growth resulting in our current Year 7 students being oversubscribed. I would like to wish him well in his new post as Headteacher of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic High School in Herefordshire, where I am sure he will be a huge success.
My job this term is to ensure that the transition for the new Headteacher Mr. Gunston is as smooth as possible for students, staff and parents alike. My priority for the first half term is to ensure that our Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 students have the best platform from which to achieve well in the forthcoming public examinations. We are well placed to continue our trajectory of school improvement and the support that you as parents provide at home will be crucial to this. With that in mind, we are holding a Parent Power evening on Wednesday 18 April, 6.00pm to 7.00pm. This is an opportunity for our Year 11 parents to find out how best to support their children through the examination season. It will be led by ‘Elevate Education’ staff who have worked worldwide in supporting students with study skills.
Another priority will be to focus on ensuring that all children learn and make good progress, experiencing the highest quality teaching and learning within a happy, safe and secure environment. Dyson Perrins is a place where every student can achieve their full potential in academic, creative, personal, physical, moral and spiritual development.
As you will be aware at the end of last term, we had an Ofsted inspection and I look forward to informing you of the outcome of this once we have received written confirmation. The staff and students worked incredibly hard during the one day inspection and were a real credit to the school.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any queries, concerns or if there is anything I can do to help and support you with your child’s learning and school life. I would like to thank you personally for your continued commitment and support towards the staff and students of this school.
