Headteacher's July Update
As we fast approach the end of this academic year, I would like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed having the honour of leading the school during this term and would like to thank you for your support throughout this time. I would also like to thank the staff and students for their enthusiasm and positivity. I truly believe that as a school, we continue to improve. We have been fortunate that our new Headteacher, Mr. Gunston, has been able to visit the school on a weekly basis over the last couple of months, which has allowed him to meet with both students and staff in readiness for a smooth transition in September.
Dyson Perrins continues to be a popular choice amongst families in Malvern and the surrounding areas. We look forward to welcoming over 160 students in September into our Year 7 and it was wonderful to host almost 300 students at our recent Year 5 ‘Taster’ day. The summer issue of the school newsletter ‘In Touch’ will be available shortly on our school website. This will inform you of many of the exciting enrichment activities in which our students have participated during this term
As always, at this time of year we will be saying farewell to a number of staff, all of whom have made a positive contribution to the school. The staff members who are leaving at the end of term are: Mrs Smith, Mrs Hynes, Mrs Brady, Mr Bengriche, Mr McDonald-Smith, Mrs Saunders and Mrs Stewart. I would like to add my personal thanks for their contribution to Dyson Perrins. The school has been busy recruiting for the new academic year and I am excited to say that we are fully staffed for September and look forward to introducing our new staff to Dyson Perrins.
As you may have recently seen in the local press, Dyson Perrins Church of England Academy celebrates its 60th Anniversary in September. To mark this occasion, we have a number of special events planned, as follows:
Thursday 20 September
The staff and students will take part in a 1950’s day. Ex-staff, students and members of the local community are invited to join an organised tour of the school and view displays of archive material. Tours will take place at 9.00am and 11.15am; please contact the school to reserve a place.
Friday 21 September
A whole school photograph will be taken.
Saturday 22 September
A 60th Anniversary Celebration will take place in the main school hall from 7.00pm to midnight. Tickets for this event are available from the school Reception at a cost of £20 per head, to include food, disco and live entertainment (Ruby Woo). A cash bar will also be available.
A grand raffle will also be held with a first prize of £100. Students will be issued with one book of raffle tickets in September and we would be very grateful if you could support your child in selling these to family and friends.
With just a few school days remaining, may I remind you that we finish at 12.15pm on Friday 20 July and the new academic year begins for all year groups on Tuesday 4 September.
I hope that the recent good weather continues over the summer and would like to wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable break.
