Year Leaders as of September 2017

    Year Leaders - Overview

Our aim at Dyson Perrins CE Academy is to develop the whole child, both academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We believe in the motto 'to love, to learn' and we embed this into our daily practice. We are a genuinely learning community that meets the needs of all our learners.

As a pastoral team, we work hard to forge positive working relationships with our students: aiming to provide support, monitor learning and ensure that the correct provisions are put in place to help each child achieve their full potential.

The key to success for our students lies in a strong collaborative relationship between the school, students and parents. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership to ensure the academic achievement and personal growth of all of the students within our care

  • Years 5, 6 & 7

Mrs Jones (Year Leader Years 5, 6, 7) -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As Year Leader for years 5, 6 and 7, I am committed to cultivating a safe, secure and structured environment within which year 5, 6 and 7 students can reach their full potential. I have high expectations of the students within my care and continuously challenge and encourage them to develop the skills needed to embark on the many challenges that lie ahead with a sense of confidence and well-being.

In year 7, we provide a range of diverse learning opportunities and encourage the students to become as actively involved in school life as possible. Extra-curricular opportunities are a great way to learn, make new friends and build support networks. We work in close partnership with local primary schools to run a transition programme that presents exciting opportunities for Year 5 and 6 students to work with our excellent teachers, more able students and outside agencies at regular intervals throughout the academic year. This approach ensures that strong foundations are put in place at Year 5, thereby facilitating smooth transition at Year 6 and 7.

It is a great privilege to be able to play a role in the education of our year 5,6 and 7 students and I look forward to working in partnership to establish a learning environment that encourages independent thought, personal growth and assures every child's right to a full and diverse education.

  • Year 8 & 9

Mrs Neath (Year Leader Years 8 & 9)   -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

It is with pleasure that I am Year  Leader for students in Year 8 and 9.

I have been working closely with Year 9 students since they started their journey in Year 7. Their transition through the years has been a privilege to observe. They continue to grow their personalities in becoming independent, responsible young people. This year, there will be a committed focus upon embedding the learning and developments of Key Stage 3, as students prepare to embark upon their Key Stage 4 Pathway. I will continue my unwavering focus to support all students so that they feel happy, safe and secure and operate with respect and maturity within the school community.

I look forward to getting to know all students in Year 8 as they continue to build upon their experiences from year 7. Students will be focussing upon developing their learning as they continue to grow throughout this year - no longer the new students! Students will continue to adhere to the values of respect and trust and again my unwavering focus will be to support all students so that they too feel happy, safe and secure.

I believe that a positive partnership between myself and parents or carers of all students, is the key to your children being happy and successful young people. I look forward to my contact with you as the year unfolds.

  • Year 10

Mrs Everitt (Year Leader Year 10)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

My name is Mrs Everitt and I am the Year Leader for Year 10. I have been the lead of this year group since Year 9 and this continuity has provided the opportunity to establish good working relationships with both students and parents.

Year 10 is a significant year for all students as they embark on their Key Stage 4 studies. A firm focus on the development of skills required for GSCE examinations will have a positive impact on the final exams at the end of Year 11. My tutor team and I are privileged to work with these young people and will be assisting them to become independent learners by delivering a varied tutor programme that includes PSHE and revision skills.

I look forward to accompanying Year 10 on this journey, supporting them to develop their individual talents both academically and socially prior to the next stage of their education.

  • Year 11

Mr Powell (Year Leader Year 11)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

My name is Dean Powell and I am the Leader for Year 11. I have been the Year leader for this current group of students since they were in Year 8 so I feel that we have a strong bond together which is vital for me to support them in the ways that they need. As Year Curriculum Leader for Year 11, my role is to make sure that students get the best opportunity to learn, revise and study in each subject and to develop students’ mindset so that they are equipped to deal with different challenges as they move into their final Examinations in the Summer Term 2018. As well as this I will be heavily involved in supporting them with their choices of what they will do post Key Stage 4.

One of my priorities is making sure students feel safe and secure which enables them to perform well in all subjects and ultimately reach their full potential. I set standards that I expect all my students to abide by so that they can develop into well-rounded people who are able to cope with many obstacles that they may face along their adolescent journey.

If students are not making sufficient progress, or have significant gaps in their learning, then they can access a range of interventions with subject teachers and older students which help them to improve as well as building stronger relationships.

Being Year Leader for Year 11 is a huge honour and responsibility. The students in my year group are at the forefront of everything I do; it is my goal to ensure that all students reach their potential through their academic studies, their personal growth and their ability to interact with each other on a polite and well-mannered level.

  • Year 12 & 13

Miss Watson (Year Leader for Years 12 and 13)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I studied Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Gloucestershire before completing my PGCE.

I have now been teaching for 14 years and am passionate about my subject and my profession. I have been on the Leadership team for five years and my responsibilities include leading the Sixth Form and developing teaching and learning across the whole school.

Working with the students in the Sixth Form is a real privilege. The last year of school can be a real challenge for students who not only have to cope with the pressure of exams, but also have some difficult decisions to make about their future. Seeing the students reach their destination whether it be an apprenticeship, University placement or going into employment is the most rewarding aspect of my job.
