    Year Leaders - Overview

Our aim at Dyson Perrins CE Academy is to develop the whole child, both academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. We believe in the motto 'to love, to learn' and we embed this into our daily practice. We are a genuinely learning community that meets the needs of all our learners.

As a pastoral team, we work hard to forge positive working relationships with our students: aiming to provide support, monitor learning and ensure that the correct provisions are put in place to help each child achieve their full potential.

The key to success for our students lies in a strong collaborative relationship between the school, students and parents. We welcome the opportunity to work in partnership to ensure the academic achievement and personal growth of all of the students within our care

  • Years 5, 6 & 7

Mrs Jones (Year Leader Years 5, 6, 7) -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

As Year Leader for years 5, 6 and 7, I am committed to cultivating a safe, secure and structured environment within which year 5, 6 and 7 students can reach their full potential. I have high expectations of the students within my care and continuously challenge and encourage them to develop the skills needed to embark on the many challenges that lie ahead with a sense of confidence and well-being.

In year 7, we provide a range of diverse learning opportunities and encourage the students to become as actively involved in school life as possible. Extra-curricular opportunities are a great way to learn, make new friends and build support networks. We work in close partnership with local primary schools to run a transition programme that presents exciting opportunities for Year 5 and 6 students to work with our excellent teachers, more able students and outside agencies at regular intervals throughout the academic year. This approach ensures that strong foundations are put in place at Year 5, thereby facilitating smooth transition at Year 6 and 7.

It is a great privilege to be able to play a role in the education of our year 5,6 and 7 students and I look forward to working in partnership to establish a learning environment that encourages independent thought, personal growth and assures every child's right to a full and diverse education.

My journey at Dyson Perrins started six years ago, with my specialism being focused in the English curriculum, as I am also Second in Department. However, I have recently embarked on this role within the school and I am excited to lead such a diverse and interesting group of young students; I believe that high expectations, and getting the ‘small, everyday things’ right are two ingredients to ensuring a positive atmosphere for learning and ensuring that your child gets the best from their time here at Dyson Perrins.

As you will be aware, due to the changes in curriculum, some Core subjects begin their KS4 content in Year 9 and therefore it is paramount that the students use this year to refine their skills in their different subjects and ensure that they embrace the diverse curriculum that they have offered here at Dyson Perrins. I believe in working closely with teachers, parents and the students; this enables us to work closely together and support each other which will help lead to the success for all learners here at Dyson Perrins.

Mr Powell (Year Leader Year 9)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I have been at Dyson Perrins for ten years and have always been proud to be part of this growing and vibrant school. I have been a Year Leader for the past six years and am extremely passionate about my role within the school and have high expectations from my Year group. I want to create a family atmosphere amongst the year group where aspirations to succeed and respect for others is at the forefront of every student’s mind.  I believe this will raise the ambitions and improve the Behaviour for Learning of Year 9 students at Dyson Perrins, where our ethos is to promote a ‘To Love to Learn’ attitude.

As you will be aware, this is one of the most important academic years for students as they will go through their options process which will shape their last two years in KS4 at Dyson Perrins.  The Year 9 pastoral team aim to support your child with an emphasis on challenge and quality care. We believe that good communication between students, parents and relevant staff will ensure success for all students.  You can support your child by keeping us informed of any concerns that may affect your child’s learning and keeping an eye on the school website where details of revision, homework and after school events can be found.

It is with pleasure that I am Year  Leader for students in Year 10.

I have been working closely with Year 10 students since they started their journey in Year 7. Their transition through the years has been a privilege to observe. They continue to grow their personalities in becoming independent, responsible young people.  I will continue my unwavering focus to support all students so that they feel happy, safe and secure and operate with respect and maturity within the school community.

I believe that a positive partnership between myself and parents or carers of all students, is the key to your children being happy and successful young people. I look forward to my contact with you as the year unfolds.

Mrs Everitt (Year Leader Year 11)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

My name is Mrs Everitt and I am the Year Leader for Year 11. I have been the lead of this year group since Year 9 and this continuity has provided the opportunity to establish good working relationships with both students and parents.

Year 11 is a significant year for all students and I will have a firm focus on ensuring that students have developed the essential skills required for GCSE examinations over the course of the year.

My tutor team and I are privileged to work with these young people and will be assisting them to become independent learners by delivering a varied tutor programme that includes PSHE, revision skills as well as interventions to support academic success.

I look forward to accompanying Year 11 on this journey, supporting them to develop their individual talents both academically and socially prior to the next stage of their education.

  • Year 12 & 13

Miss Watson (Year Leader for Years 12 and 13)  -  This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I studied Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Gloucestershire before completing my PGCE.

I have now been teaching for 14 years and am passionate about my subject and my profession. I have been on the Leadership team for five years and my responsibilities include leading the Sixth Form and developing teaching and learning across the whole school.

Working with the students in the Sixth Form is a real privilege. The last year of school can be a real challenge for students who not only have to cope with the pressure of exams, but also have some difficult decisions to make about their future. Seeing the students reach their destination whether it be an apprenticeship, University placement or going into employment is the most rewarding aspect of my job.
