EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
GCSE French is offered as an extra-curricular activity for students who want the option of taking more GCSEs. These lessons take place outside of lesson time. Studying a language GCSE, in addition to your options, illustrates commitment and dedication and looks great on a CV.
From September 2017, we will offer year 9 students the opportunity to study for the nationally-recognised Language Leader Award; organised by Routes into Languages East at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. Students complete a detailed application form, attend an interview and if successful, they attend a 60-minute session per week learning to be a Languages Teacher. The course culminates in students delivering 3 x 20 minute language lessons to younger learners. More information about this award can be found at: http://rilanguageleaderaward.wikispaces.com/Course+Overview Application forms will be available for year 8 students in May each year.
We also offer intervention sessions for year 11 after school on Fridays to support students in improving their GCSE grades and a homework club on Friday lunchtimes for all years, in which students can work independently or ask for help with any tasks they find particularly challenging.
