KEY STAGE 4 - FRENCH, GERMAN & SPANISH

Language classes in KS4 tend to consist of 20 students, enabling students to benefit from close supervision and targeted intervention from their teacher.

GCSE students are examined in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.  Students follow the AQA specification.

http://www.aqa.org.uk/subjects/languages/languages-for-life

In lessons, students continually carry out a range of GCSE exam-style tasks, in order to be fully prepared to meet the demands of the final linear exams in year 11.

The scheme of work in all 3 languages consists of 3 themes:

Theme 1 - Identity and culture

Theme 2 - Local, national, international and global areas of interest

Theme 3 - Current and future study and employment

Students will have the opportunity to learn about the daily life and culture of inhabitants of the target language countries, make comparisons, analyse differences, give opinions and communicate effectively.  We also have several links with schools in France, Germany and Spain and through these links, students will be able to put their classroom learning into practice.

The vocabulary lists for GCSE can be practiced interactively using these excellent apps:
