World Mental Health Day: #Helloyellow Supporting Young Minds
On Tuesday 10th October the school community took part in several activities to raise awareness about mental health as part of the Young Minds #helloyellow campaign.
We all wore yellow stickers, and students were able to participate in a range of lunchtime activities to promote good mental health and wellbeing. Students were pebble painting in the Wellbeing garden, taking photos with their friends in a #helloyellow photo booth in the Chapel, discovering health and wellbeing reading resources and eating cakes in the library and lastly, getting involved in a corn hole house challenge on the tennis courts.
A big thank you to Vanessa, Mrs Davies and Mrs Hargest for their support. We are also very thankful to Arianna and her Mum, who baked some very delicious cakes to support the event.
The Corn hole Challenge also doubled up as a House event and there were some very keen students (and teachers) enthusiastically throwing bean bags into the targets.
The scores are as follows:
1st Morgan 6200 points
2nd Foley 5900 points
3rd Ballard 5250 points
4th Elgar 4100 points
Our Assemblies this week also focussed on the Wellbeing Hub. A mental health and wellbeing platform to assist with Mental Health and Wellbeing. Our current Year 9 students campaigned for this resource in Year 8 as part of their campaign for change, and we know that their initiative will go on to help many members of our school community. Mrs Jones will communicate more about this in due course.
Mental health and wellbeing is very important and there is lots of mental health support available at Dyson Perrins. Please do speak to your child’s Year Leader if you would like further information.
